I was born in St. Louis, Missouri and lived near Hampton Avenue for many years. I began my education at Mason Elementary and graduated high school south of St. Louis. I have lived in many states but Missouri is home.
I attended Jefferson College and The University of Missouri-St. Louis where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education. While earning my degree I joined campus organizations and held leadership positions. I joined Student Missouri National Education Club (MNEA), the only teacher education organization on campus, and held two positions. I was the Finance Vice President and Student Senate Liaison during my time on campus. The Student MNEA opened new opportunities to teach and learn about students in the local school districts. Furthermore, I held three positions in Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society including: President, Voting Delegate, and Public Relations Officer. As president, I led Phi Theta Kappa to a three stars chapter and to the International Convention in Texas. As an active member of the campus organizations I gained personal and academic skills which greatly contribute to my teaching abilities.
My accomplishments vary and include earning multiple scholarships and working on many great personal, professional, and community projects. I have successfully organized and coordinated a school garden for use by students, staff, and community members. I have also coordinated the Green Schools Quest since 2015. I have had other personal and professional successes in life with more successes to come.
In my classroom, I create a safe learning community and build student positive relationship early in the year. I use positive behavior management system with clear expectations and consequences. I have high expectations for every student and plan lessons to meet the needs of the learner. I utilize multiple forms of communication to provide a home school connection needed for a successful year. I want to impact students positively to encourage growth and success personally and educational for each student.
In my personal time I have many interests. First, I like to watch many school and professional sports. I like to read, garden, and solve puzzles. I enjoy outdoor activities and play all types of games including playing with my two dogs.
My teaching certifications include: Early Childhood Education (Birth-3), Elementary Education (1–6), and Mild to Moderate Special Education (K-12).
